CP Kabir Umar Hassan Assumes Duty as 33rd Adamawa Police Commissioner

A new Commissioner of Police, Kabir Umar Hassan, has officially assumed duty as the 33rd head of the Adamawa State Police Command, bringing decades of operational, investigative, and administrative experience to the role.
Hassan, who took over leadership of the command on Friday, joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1996 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police after earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of Maiduguri in 1992.
Born on August 15, 1967, in Katagum Local Government Area of Bauchi State, the new commissioner has built a distinguished career spanning nearly three decades. He has undergone extensive professional training, including at the National Defence College Nigeria in 2023, as well as several command and tactical courses at the Police Staff College in Jos.
Over the years, Hassan has held key positions across the country. His postings include serving as Personal Assistant to the Commissioner of Police in Borno State, Officer in Charge of Pipeline Security in Gombe State, and Directing Staff at the Police College in Kaduna. He also served as Liaison Officer at the Police Service Commission and held divisional leadership roles in Kaduna State.
Further assignments saw him serve as Assistant Commissioner of Police at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Bauchi State, and later as Deputy Commissioner of Police in Jigawa, Niger, and Sokoto State Commands in various capacities.
Until his latest appointment, he was Commissioner of Police (Administration) at the Force Headquarters Annex in Lagos.Described as a disciplined and professional officer, Hassan is expected to leverage his wealth of experience to tackle security challenges in Adamawa State and strengthen public confidence in policing.
The Police Command called on residents to support security efforts by providing timely and credible information to aid crime prevention and detection.
Hassan is married with children and enjoys travelling, sports, and reading.The statement announcing his assumption of duty was issued by Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State Command.
