NGO EMPOWERS 250 YOUTH IN ADAMAWA/BRONO ON AGRICULTURAL PRACTICES TO FIGHT AGAINST FOOD INSECURITY

Plan International has trained and empowered 250 youth in Adamawa and Borno state on good agricultural practice,proper skill development and reproductive health right targeting four LGA’s which is Fufore and Girei LGA in Adamawa State, Damboa and Mafa LGA in Brono State.
The project is implemented by plan International across the Lake Chad Region in partnership with Haraf Nigeria and founded by German Federal Ministry of Economic Development BMZ the youth are trained in order in a bid to boost the economic empowerment and to reduce the high rate of foods insecurity.
Speaking at the Commissioning of the livelihood incubation centre on Monday in Fufore Local Government Area of Adamawa State, the Lake Chad Programme Coordinator, Leticia Hijazo Conejos,detailed that the center is for the training of the youths in different skills to boost their business capacity.
She pointed out that the main objective of the project was to help strengthen the resilience of adolescents in food insecure regions of lake chad by securing their livelihoods and training them on good agricultural practices.
Leticia outlined the practices that will be imbibed according to her the service , “includes providing access to technical skills and knowledge to power them to make informed decisions and their productive activities.”
During the project Commissioning,Hon. Shu’aibu Babas the chairman of Fufore LGA represented by his vice chairman Mrs Peace Audu Samson loudly applaud Plan International for the project, pointing out that the council will take good advantage of the incubation centre to train more youth.
The Wife of the Adamawa State Governor Lami Ahmedu Umaru Fintiri who was represented by the Fufore LGA Chairmans wife, Hajiya Fadimatu Shu’aibu Babas stated that the project is timely as the empowerment will divert the heart of the Youth from crime.
Fadimatu further appreciate the donors and their partners for the gesture calling on the trainee to devote their all in learning and shaping their future so they can be self dependent.
Iliyasu Usman The Project Lead BMZ stated that the project has Kickstart in Adamawa and Brono targeting 250 women and youth and the project will last for 5 Months after which seed capital will be given to the trainee for a start up.
Lending his voice,Gambo Daniel the Adamawa State Head of Office Plan International Nigeria has also call for the sustainability of the project as he advises the beneficiary on increasing their level of seriousness to learn and upgrade their education status via the project.

In appreciation Abubakar Sadiq from Ribadu District a beneficiary of the project loudly applaud Plan International and their donors stating that the training is timely and it will distract him from crime.”According to him,I now understand how to plant crops differently We were also taught the appropriate way to apply fertilizers now my mind has experienced a change and I am deeply grateful to enjoy this privilege”.
