The convener of TEDxYola, Daniel Ishaku, has said the annual conference is committed to transforming the mindset of young people in Adamawa State and the wider Northeast region through innovative ideas and inspiring conversations.
Speaking at the third edition of the conference held in Yola with the theme “Ignite,” Ishaku explained that the event was designed to equip participants with impactful ideas capable of driving personal growth, innovation, and positive change.
According to him, TEDxYola seeks to inspire young people to excel in their various fields and spheres of influence, noting that society would become a better place when individuals pursue excellence and leadership in their chosen endeavors.
“The mission of this year’s conference is to ignite attendees with ideas that will set them in motion and inspire them to make meaningful contributions to society,” he said.
Ishaku further stated that the conference was aimed at sharpening the mindset of participants through the experiences and insights of seven distinguished speakers who have excelled in their respective fields.
One of the speakers, renowned fashion entrepreneur Janada Papka, spoke on the importance of confidence, describing it as an inner quality that must be developed and nurtured.
“Confidence is not something people are born with. It is a trait that can be cultivated and strengthened over time,” she said, encouraging participants to believe in themselves and pursue their goals boldly.
Also speaking at the event, Pastor Tosin Komolafe, Presiding Pastor of Epic Center Church and a computer engineer, emphasized the importance of clarity and direction in achieving success.
Educationist Mrs. Beatrice Mologoh urged young people to discover and maximize their unique strengths. She also called on parents to celebrate children beyond academic achievements, stressing that every child possesses distinct talents and abilities.
“Academic success alone should not be the measure of a person’s worth or potential. Every child is peculiar and gifted in their own way,” she noted.
In his presentation, Dr. Elisha addressed the issue of laziness and personal responsibility, emphasizing the need for individuals to take ownership of their development.
“Aid may initiate change, but ownership sustains it,” he said, urging participants to remain proactive and committed to their personal growth.
At the end of the one-day conference, several participants expressed satisfaction with the impact of the event, stating that their perspectives had been transformed and that they were leaving inspired to implement positive changes in their businesses, careers, and communities.
The 2026 TEDxYola conference concluded with renewed enthusiasm among attendees, many of whom described the experience as a catalyst for personal and professional transformation.
