The 23 Armoured Brigade of the Nigerian Army has decorated four officers with their new ranks following their promotion from Lieutenant to Captain.
The decoration ceremony, held at the Brigade headquarters in Yola, saw Lt. S.A. Adewumi, Lt. Nnebe, Lt. Bitrus Phanuel Dauda, and Lt. A.A. Ismaila officially elevated to the rank of Captain.
Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Amechi Ogbonnaya Agwu, presided over the event and congratulated the officers, describing the promotion as a well-deserved recognition of their dedication, discipline, and outstanding performance.
He thanked the Chief of Army Staff for approving the promotions and urged the newly promoted officers to remain steadfast in their commitment to national security, especially in the fight against insurgency in Adamawa State.
“The relative peace currently enjoyed in Adamawa is largely due to your resilience and sacrifice. But our work is not done until we secure total safety across the state,” Gen. Agwu said.
Representing senior Captains in the brigade, Capt. AS Fariogun commended the newly promoted officers and reminded them that their elevation came with heightened responsibilities. He encouraged all personnel to remain united and proactive in tackling security challenges.
Also addressing the gathering, Major Festus Adewunmi Fatunberu advised the officers to continue to uphold military ethics and professionalism. “This new rank should inspire greater discipline and service. Remember, the reward for hard work is more hard work,” he said.
Officers from sister security agencies present at the event also offered words of encouragement, applauding the officers for their commitment and urging them to remain hardworking.
Speaking on behalf of the newly promoted officers, Capt. Samuel Adebayo Adewumi, who also serves as the Acting Public Relations Officer of the Brigade, expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff and the Brigade Commander for their mentorship and support.
He pledged that the new captains would remain committed to their duties and continue to contribute meaningfully to the Nigerian Army’s mission of safeguarding lives and property.
