SNB President Urges Adamawa Broadcasters to Embrace Digital Journalism

The President of the Society of Nigerian Broadcasters (SNB), Professor Umar Pate, has urged broadcasters in Adamawa State to embrace digital journalism and abandon outdated analogue practices to remain relevant in the rapidly evolving media industry.

Pate made the call at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Centre in Yola, the Adamawa State capital.

He said the broadcasting industry was undergoing significant transformation driven by streaming platforms, social media and data-driven storytelling, making it imperative for media professionals to continuously upgrade their skills and adopt emerging technologies.

The SNB president warned that broadcasters who fail to digitalise their operations and improve their professional competencies risk losing relevance in an increasingly competitive media environment.

He urged broadcasters to collectively reposition the profession by investing in continuous training, modern digital tools and economic empowerment.

According to him, the future of broadcasting belongs to professionals who can combine intellectual capacity and public trust with a strong digital mindset.

Pate also called on members of the profession to participate in the forthcoming SNB National Conference scheduled for September 2026 in Bauchi.

He said the conference would provide broadcasters with opportunities for networking, capacity building and exposure to global best practices in digital broadcasting.

The SNB president maintained that strengthening the capacity of media professionals remained critical to ensuring that broadcasting continues to play its role in informing and educating the public in the digital age.
