Adamawa Assures NYSC Members of Safety, Swears in 1,520 Corps Members

The Adamawa State Government has reassured members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) posted to the state of their safety, pledging to provide a secure and enabling environment throughout their one-year national service.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri gave the assurance through his Chief of Staff, Chief Amos Edgar Sunday,during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2026 Batch B Stream II corps members at the NYSC orientation camp.

Edgar said the state government would continue to work closely with security agencies to safeguard corps members, emphasizing that ensuring security is a shared responsibility.

“We will continue to collaborate with security agencies to ensure your safety because security is everybody’s business,” he said.

He congratulated the newly sworn-in corps members on their successful induction into the scheme and urged them to make the most of the opportunities offered by the NYSC.

He encouraged them to participate actively in all camp activities and take the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme seriously, noting that entrepreneurial skills have become increasingly important as white-collar jobs are limited.

The governor also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the welfare of corps members, assuring them that the state’s monthly ₦30,000 allowance would continue without interruption.

Fintiri further disclosed that work towards establishing a permanent NYSC orientation camp in Adamawa State was at an advanced stage, expressing optimism that future batches of corps members would no longer undergo orientation at the temporary Damare camp.

Earlier, the Adamawa State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Osoroh Caroline, said a total of 1,520 corps members, comprising 779 males and 741 females, had been registered for the orientation exercise.

She charged the corps members to uphold the ideals of the NYSC by demonstrating loyalty, discipline, patriotism, dedication, and respect for constituted authority throughout their service year.

Also addressing the corps members, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Wali Yakubu, urged them to participate fully in all orientation camp activities, comply with safety guidelines, and remain committed to excellence. He noted that outstanding performance during service could create opportunities for future employment.

Some of the newly sworn-in corps members expressed satisfaction with their deployment to Adamawa State, saying their experience so far had exceeded their expectations. They pledged to take advantage of the opportunities available in the state while making meaningful contributions to their host communities after the orientation programme.
