NUJ Congratulates Adamawa First Lady, Lami Fintiri, Named “First Lady of the Year” for Health and Grassroots Empowerment

The First Lady of Adamawa State, Hajiya Lami Ahmadu Fintiri, has been honoured as the “First Lady of the Year (Health Care & Grassroots Empowerment)” at the 2025 Nigerian Humanitarian Awards and Magazine.
The award, which emerged through a competitive public voting process, recognises her outstanding contributions in maternal health, child immunization, and efforts to expand inclusive healthcare services across the state.
According to the Adamawa State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), the award also celebrates Hajiya Lami Fintiri’s commitment to women empowerment and support for the girl child.
The NUJ further recalled her recent emergence as Vice Chairperson of the Cancer Association under the Forum of Governors’ Wives from the 36 states of the federation.
In a statement signed by its Chairman, Abdullahi Ibrahim, and Secretary, Kissinger Bukar, the NUJ congratulated both the First Lady and Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri on the recognition, describing it as a testament to the progress recorded in various spheres of human development in the state.
The union also pledged its support to complement the First Lady’s efforts, reaffirming its commitment to ensuring that vulnerable groups, including women, children, and persons with physical disabilities, are given a sense of belonging in Adamawa State.
