The Adamawa State Police Command has commenced a statewide enforcement campaign targeting vehicles with unregistered or covered number plates and illegally tinted glass, in line with a directive from the Inspector-General of Police (IGP).
The exercise, which is being carried out simultaneously across the country, is aimed at strengthening security and combating criminal activities often associated with vehicles that cannot be easily identified.
Speaking with journalists, the Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, Kabir Hassan Umar, said the operation follows a nationwide directive from the Inspector-General of Police and is designed to ensure compliance with vehicle registration regulations.
According to the Commissioner, vehicles found operating without proper registration, with covered number plates, or with unregistered tinted glass permits will be apprehended and prosecuted through a mobile magistrate court. Offenders will be required to pay the prescribed fines and ensure their vehicles are properly registered before being released.
CP Umar explained that the initiative is part of broader efforts to enhance public safety and reduce crime across the state. He noted that many criminal incidents have been linked to vehicles operating without visible registration numbers or with unauthorized tinted glass, making it difficult for security agencies to track suspects.
He urged vehicle owners and motorists to comply with the regulations by obtaining valid registration documents, displaying their number plates properly, and securing the necessary permits for tinted glass where applicable.
The Police Command reiterated its commitment to maintaining law and order and warned that violators would face the full weight of the law as the enforcement campaign continues across Adamawa State.
