Adamawa Police Recover Locally Made Firearms in Mayo-Belwa

The Adamawa State Police Command has recovered two locally made firearms and a cartridge at Ngunure River Bank in Mayo-Belwa Local Government Area of the state.

The recovery was made on Wednesday, August 13, 2026, at about 4:00 p.m., following credible information provided to the police by a concerned citizen.

According to a statement issued on Friday by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the items recovered included one locally made single-barrel gun, one locally made pistol and one cartridge.

Nguroje said the firearms were recovered during a police operation based on the information received from the member of the public.

He said investigation had commenced to identify and apprehend those responsible for concealing the weapons at the river bank.

The Command reiterated its commitment to ridding Adamawa State of illegal firearms and other dangerous weapons capable of threatening the safety and security of residents.

The police also urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to assist in preventing crime and apprehending criminals across the state.
