The Adamawa State Police Command on Wednesday received the Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG) in charge of the North-East Geopolitical Zone, Zachariah Fera Achinyan, alongside the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Department of Research and Planning, Ibrahim Baba Zango, during an official operational tour of the command.
The visiting senior officers were received by the Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State Command, CP Kabiru Umar Hassan, and members of the command’s management team.
As part of their engagements, the DIGs paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, where discussions focused on the prevailing security situation in the state and measures to strengthen collaboration between the police and the state government in maintaining peace, security, and public order.
The officers also paid a royal homage to the Lamido of Adamawa, Dr. Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Mustapha, at his palace in Yola. Discussions during the visit centred on community engagement, peaceful coexistence, and support for policing efforts across the state.
The operational tour included an interactive session with officers and personnel of the command. During the engagement, the DIGs stressed the importance of professionalism, discipline, and adherence to the vision of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
They reiterated the police leadership’s zero-tolerance policy on corruption and misconduct and urged officers to embrace local knowledge policing, maintain operational readiness, strengthen inter-agency cooperation, and uphold ethical standards in service delivery.
The DIGs further reminded officers to remain accountable and professional in the discharge of their duties.
Addressing personnel involved in the ongoing enforcement against unregistered vehicles, the senior officers cautioned against any form of extortion or unethical conduct, emphasizing that the exercise is intended to enhance public safety and security rather than serve as an avenue for misconduct.
According to the command, the operational tour aligns with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police aimed at strengthening strategic supervision, assessing operational effectiveness, and engaging officers and critical stakeholders across the country.
The visiting DIGs are expected to continue their operational tour with further engagements involving key stakeholders within the command on Thursday.
