20-Year-Old Man Arrested for Allegedly Assaulting Mother in Adamawa

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 20-year-old man, John Mamud, for allegedly assaulting his mother at their residence in Konan Kuka, Mayo Belwa Local Government Area of the state.

The arrest followed a complaint lodged with the police over the alleged assault, according to a statement issued on Monday, August 10, 2026, by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje.

The command said preliminary investigations had commenced, adding that the Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State Command, had directed that the matter be thoroughly investigated.

The suspect is expected to be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation, the police said.

The command condemned all forms of domestic violence and reaffirmed its commitment to protecting vulnerable persons, particularly women and the elderly within families.

The police also urged members of the public to promptly report cases of domestic abuse to the nearest police station.
