Brigadier General Adeleye Lawal Assumes Command of Sector IV Operation Hadin KaiBrigadier General Adeleye Lawal has assumed command as the Acting Commander, Sector IV, Operation HADIN KAI, succeeding Brigadier General Amechi Agwu.
The handing and taking-over ceremony was held on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at the Headquarters of Sector IV, Operation HADIN KAI, in Mubi, Adamawa State.
Lawal, who becomes the second Acting Commander of the sector since its establishment, commended his predecessor for laying what he described as a solid foundation for the sector.
He described the responsibility ofpioneering the sector as technically demanding, while pledging to consolidate on the achievements recorded under Agwu’s leadership.
The new Acting Commander also assured Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers and troops of his commitment to providing the leadership required to sustain and improve ongoing military operations.
He charged officers and soldiers under the sector to redouble their efforts and maximise the operational gains recorded across their various Areas of Responsibility.
Brigadier General Lawal is a member of the 44 Regular Course of the Nigerian Defence Academy.
Before his appointment, he served as Deputy Director, Strategy, at the Defence Department of Policy and Plans, Defence Headquarters.
In his valedictory remarks, the outgoing Acting Commander, Brigadier General Amechi Agwu, expressed appreciation to Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, Staff Officers and troops for their commitment and dedication to duty during his tenure.
Agwu attributed the achievements recorded by the sector to the support and commitment of officers and soldiers under his command.
He urged personnel to extend the same support, and even greater commitment, to the new Acting Commander to sustain the current operational tempo of the sector.
The outgoing commander described Lawal as a seasoned and versatile general and wished him a successful tour of duty.
Highlights of the ceremony included the signing of handing and taking-over notes, presentation of the command flag to the new Acting Commander, Quarter Guard drills and a ceremonial farewell involving handshakes between the outgoing commander and senior officers.
