Fintiri Charges NYSC Members to Respect Adamawa Culture as 1,367 Sworn In

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has urged newly deployed National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members in Adamawa State to respect the culture and traditions of their host communities and contribute meaningfully to national development.
The governor gave the charge during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream I Corps Members held at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Damare, Girei Local Government Area, where a total of 1,367 corps members were formally inducted into the scheme.
Represented by the Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, Governor Fintiri encouraged the corps members to foster harmonious relationships with their host communities, utilize their knowledge and skills to improve lives, and promote national unity.
He described the orientation course as the beginning of a transformative journey of service, leadership, self-discovery, and nation-building for the young graduates.
According to him, the administration of the Oath of Allegiance signifies the corps members’ commitment to the unity, progress, and development of Nigeria.
The governor also urged the corps members to take advantage of the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme, describing it as one of the most impactful components of the NYSC scheme.
He encouraged active participation in various vocational training areas, including agriculture, information and communication technology, fashion and beauty, construction, catering and food processing, creative arts, environmental management, and other enterprise-based skills.
In her address, the Adamawa State Coordinator of the NYSC, Mrs. Asoroh Chinedu, commended Governor Fintiri for his support of the scheme and praised the ongoing construction work at the new NYSC Orientation Camp in Malkohi.
She noted that the project demonstrates the administration’s commitment to youth development and the provision of quality infrastructure for corps members in the state.
Mrs. Chinedu also expressed appreciation to the governor for his unwavering support and dedication to the welfare and growth of the NYSC in Adamawa State.
Administering the Oath of Allegiance, the Chief Judge of Adamawa State, Justice Hafsat Abdulrahman, represented by Justice Christopher Dominic Mapeo, urged the corps members to obey the rules and regulations of the scheme, respect constituted authorities, and remain worthy ambassadors of Nigeria throughout their service year.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the NYSC Governing Board, Wali Yakubu, reaffirmed the board’s commitment to working closely with the state government and other stakeholders to ensure the welfare, security, and overall success of corps members serving in Adamawa State.
The ceremony marked the official commencement of the three-week orientation programme for the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream I corps members deployed to the state.
