Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has flagged off the distribution of subsidised fertilisers for the 2026 farming season, charging farmers to make effective use of the agricultural inputs while warning against their sale, hoarding, or diversion.
The governor gave the warning on Monday during the official flag-off ceremony held at the Adamawa State Agricultural Mechanisation Authority in Yola.
Fintiri said the subsidised fertilisers were procured by the state government to support genuine farmers, improve agricultural productivity, and strengthen food security across the state.
He warned distributors and beneficiaries that anyone found selling, hoarding, or diverting the fertilisers would face appropriate sanctions, stressing that the inputs were meant strictly for farming activities.
“The fertilisers are for farmers’ use and not for sale. They are intended to boost crop yields and improve food production across the state,” the governor said.
As part of the exercise, the governor officially launched the distribution of the fertilisers to the 21 Local Government Areas of Adamawa State and recognised farmers’ associations in preparation for the 2026 farming season.
Fintiri described Adamawa as a state blessed with vast fertile land and enormous agricultural potential, noting that farming remains one of the major drivers of the state’s economy.
He explained that the procurement of the subsidised fertilisers reflects his administration’s commitment to supporting farmers, increasing crop production, and ensuring adequate food availability for residents of the state and neighbouring communities.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s determination to continue implementing policies and programmes aimed at strengthening the agricultural sector, improving farmers’ livelihoods, and promoting sustainable economic growth through agriculture.
