The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested two suspected armed robbers and recovered a stolen vehicle in Yola, in what it described as a major step forward in its efforts to combat crime in the state.
In a statement released on Saturday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, said the suspects were apprehended by officers from the Yolde Pate Divisional Police Headquarters, following actionable intelligence.
The operation, led by SP Abdullahi Abubakar, was launched after the police received a tip-off that a black 2015 Honda Accord, earlier stolen at gunpoint from one Sadisu Umar Sani in Sabon Gari, Jalingo, Taraba State, had been sighted in Yola.
The suspects—28-year-old Emmanuel Sale and 36-year-old Jibrilla Hassan—were both arrested and identified as residents of Sabon Gari, Jalingo. The stolen vehicle was also successfully recovered during the operation.
Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, praised the officers for their swift and effective response and directed that the case be handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Yola.
He also instructed that the investigation be conducted in collaboration with the Taraba State Police Command to ensure thorough prosecution.
“The Adamawa State Police Command remains steadfast in its commitment to protecting lives and property and will continue to intensify efforts to rid the state of criminal elements,” the statement concluded.
