The Zone 3 Police Headquarters, Yola, Adamawa State, has debunked reports circulating on social media alleging that Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Akinwale Kunle Adeniran was forcibly retired from the Nigeria Police Force by the Inspector-General of Police.
The command, in a statement issued on Saturday, described the report, which was circulated on a WhatsApp platform known as Great Nigeria Renaissance, as “false, misleading, and without any iota of truth.”
According to the statement signed by the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, SP Aminu Umar Bashir, on behalf of the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 3 Headquarters, AIG Adeniran retired honourably after attaining the statutory retirement age of 60, in line with the relevant laws and extant regulations governing retirement in the Nigeria Police Force and the Federal Civil Service.
The command noted that the senior police officer concluded a distinguished career marked by dedication, professionalism and integrity, stressing that his retirement followed the normal administrative process and should not be misconstrued or sensationalised.
It urged members of the public to disregard the viral publication and refrain from circulating unverified information capable of misleading the public or undermining the image and cohesion of the Nigeria Police Force.
The police also appealed to journalists, bloggers and social media users to verify information through official and credible sources before publishing or sharing reports relating to the Force.
Reaffirming its commitment to transparency, professionalism and accurate public communication, the Zone 3 Command thanked the media for its continued support and partnership with the Nigeria Police Force.
