The Adamawa State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening security through closer collaboration with the Nigerian Army, following renewed insurgent activities in parts of the state.
Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa George Farauta, gave the assurance on Thursday while receiving the Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai, Major General Abdulsalam E. Abubakar, during a courtesy visit to her office.
Farauta expressed appreciation to the military delegation for their solidarity with the state, particularly in the wake of recent attacks that claimed the lives of innocent citizens. She emphasized that the government remains resolute in its duty to protect residents and maintain peace.
“I want to thank you for taking out time to be in Adamawa to condole with us; we are most grateful,” she said. “Adamawa is a safe haven, and the government will do everything necessary to ensure the state remains secure.”
The deputy governor further assured continuous support for security agencies, noting that the state would sustain investments in human capital development and information and communication technology (ICT) as part of efforts to enhance security operations.
Earlier, Major General Abubakar said his visit was part of an operational appraisal aimed at reviewing and strengthening the state’s security architecture. He noted that the assessment would focus on improving response times and developing effective early warning systems.
He also conveyed condolences to the government and people of Adamawa State on behalf of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, over the recent killings.
“I want to convey my condolences to the people of Adamawa State over the loss of innocent citizens. It is a serious concern, and that is why I am here under the directive of the Chief of Army Staff,” Abubakar said.
“We are conducting an operational appraisal to see how to rejig the security architecture, particularly to improve response time and establish early warning mechanisms.”
The visit underscores ongoing efforts by both the state government and the military to curb insurgency and restore lasting peace in Adamawa.Yahoo Mail: Search, Organize, Conquer
