A former Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), Mallam Ahmed Galadima Aminu, has formally declared his intention to contest for the governorship of Adamawa State under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Aminu made the decleration on Wednesday while delivering a congratulatory address during a courtesy visit to the APC Adamawa State Secretariat, where he joined party leaders and stakeholders to celebrate the emergence of the new state executive.
The event was attended by key party officials, including the State Chairman, Alhaji Hamza Bello Madagali; Deputy Chairman, Dr. Raymond D. Chidama; and State Secretary, Comrade Mustapha Atiku Ribadu, alongside other members of the state executive and party loyalists.
In his remarks, Aminu congratulated the newly elected leadership, describing their emergence as well-deserved and reflective of their longstanding commitment to the party.
He also commended the governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, for overseeing what he described as a peaceful and consensus-driven congress process across ward, local government, and state levels.
“Pulling off such exercises in Adamawa without rancour is a mark of statesmanship and maturity,” Aminu said, adding that the governor’s leadership would be positively judged by history.
The aspirant further praised the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, highlighting his “courage, integrity, and patriotism” in handling national security responsibilities.
At the national level, Aminu expressed support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that his administration has shown determination in addressing Nigeria’s economic and security challenges.
Speaking on his ambition, Aminu said his decision followed extensive consultations with stakeholders across Adamawa State, including elders, youths, women, and professionals.
“I come with experience, sincerity, and a heart ready to serve,” he stated, pledging to focus on unity, youth empowerment, education, agriculture, healthcare, and transparent governance if elected.
He emphasized his commitment to building on existing foundations in the state while fostering inclusive leadership that cuts across ethnic and religious lines.
The declaration signals the early start of political maneuvering ahead of the next governorship election in Adamawa State, with Aminu positioning himself as a contender within the APC.
