As part of activities marking the 50th anniversary of the University of Jos (Unijos), the Adamawa State chapter of the university’s Alumni Association organized a free medical outreach for residents of Boromji community in Yola North Local Government Area.
The outreach, which took place on Saturday, was conducted by a team of volunteer medical professionals, including National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members who are themselves alumni of the university.
Speaking at the event, the Chairperson of the Unijos Alumni Association in Adamawa, Jummai Kwabe, said the initiative was designed to give back to society and foster stronger ties between the university and the communities where its graduates live and work.
“This outreach is one of the ways we are commemorating the golden jubilee of our alma mater. It is also an opportunity for us to show appreciation to the society that has supported us over the years,” Kwabe stated.
She also expressed gratitude to the volunteer medical team for their dedication and encouraged other alumni to support ongoing anniversary programs.
Residents of Boromji, who turned out in large numbers to benefit from the outreach, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the alumni group.
“We are grateful to be the privileged community selected for this outreach. It couldn’t have come at a better time,” one of the beneficiaries said.
The outreach is part of a series of events planned nationwide by various chapters of the Unijos Alumni Association to celebrate 50 years of academic excellence and community impact.
