Police Commission New Outstation in Suwandu to Boost Community Policing

The Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, Dankombo Morris, has commissioned a newly constructed Police Outstation in Suwandu, Shagari Phase II, Yola South Local Government Area, as part of efforts to enhance visibility policing and strengthen security in the area.
Speaking during the commissioning, the Police Commissioner charged officers posted to the outstation to uphold professionalism, discipline, and respect for human rights in the discharge of their duties. He emphasized the importance of community-oriented policing in crime prevention and effective security service delivery.
The outstation was constructed through the efforts of a senior police officer, ACP Ibrahim Muhammed, in collaboration with members of the Suwandu community, and subsequently donated to the Nigeria Police Force. The initiative is aimed at strengthening the local security architecture, promoting community participation, and sustaining community policing in the area.
The commissioning ceremony attracted several dignitaries, including the Special Adviser to the Governor on Community Peace and Security, Hon. Ahmed Lawan; the Chairman of Yola South Local Government Area; and the District Head of Bole Yolde Pate, alongside other community leaders and stakeholders.
In a welcome address, the Chairman of the Suwandu Community, Dr. Louis Solomon Mandawa, mni, commended CP Dankombo for his commitment to crime fighting in the state and expressed gratitude for the prompt approval granted for the establishment of the outstation.
He reaffirmed the community’s willingness to continue working closely with the Police to ensure sustained peace and security.
In his remarks, Dankombo thanked the Suwandu community for the initiative and reiterated the Command’s resolve to deepen community policing. He assured residents of improved security coverage and more effective policing in the area.
The commissioning of the Suwandu Police Outstation is expected to enhance police presence, foster stronger police–community relations, and contribute to the maintenance of peace and order in Yola South and its environs.
