Rural farmers across nine Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Adamawa South Senatorial District have received boost as Senator (Rev.) Binos Dauda Yaroe distributed 810 bags of fertilizer and 450 cartons of herbicides, alongside other farm inputs, to support the ongoing farming season.
The distribution exercise, held yesterday in Mayo-Belwa LGA, is aimed at empowering peasant farmers and improving agricultural productivity in the region. Each of the nine LGAs received 90 bags of fertilizer and 50 cartons of herbicides, with the items targeted primarily at vulnerable farmers.
Speaking to journalists after the event, Mr. Katawan Boniface, Director-General of the Binos Campaign Team, said effective measures were put in place to ensure transparency and fairness in the allocation process.
“We have selected beneficiaries from various political parties and backgrounds because Senator Binos is a senator for all the people of Adamawa South, irrespective of political or ethnic differences,” Boniface said. “This is just the first batch of the distribution for this rainy season, and we believe it will go a long way in assisting local farmers at this critical stage.”
According to him, the initiative aims to reach about 4,650 farmers, with 50 farmers selected from each of the 93 wards in the senatorial district.
Boniface also cautioned beneficiaries against selling the farm inputs, urging them to use the items for their intended purpose to improve yields and food security in the region.
Other stakeholders who spoke at the event, including Mal. Usman Inuwa, an ally of Senator Binos, and Mr. Raymond Robinson, the Binos Team Coordinator for Guyuk LGA, praised the senator for his consistent support to farmers.
“This is not the first time Senator Binos is reaching out to farmers,” Robinson noted. “It has become an annual practice, done in batches, to ensure as many farmers as possible benefit from the distribution.”
Gibson Ma’aji, representative of Lamurde LGA, assured that thorough screening was conducted to identify genuine farmers in need of support.
“In Lamurde, we established an effective mechanism to select real farmers who are in dire need of these farm elements,” Ma’aji said. “Transparency was our watchword.”
Representatives from other LGAs similarly affirmed their commitment to fair distribution and called on beneficiaries to use the inputs to boost their agricultural activities.
The initiative was sponsored by Senator Binos Dauda Yaroe, with support from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and Focus Stability Limited (Lot G40z/2025). Each bag of fertilizer distributed weighs 50kg, while each carton of herbicide contains 12 one-litre containers.
Farmers expressed optimism that the timely support would enhance their planning and improve yields in the current cropping season.
