16 Days of Activism: FIDA, RoLAC tasks stakeholders to double effort to eliminate VAWG in Adamawa

YOLA —Ojoma Yusuf,YolaThe International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Adamawa State with support from EU-Rule of Law and Anti Corruption (RoLAC 11) has tasked stakeholders to double their efforts to eliminate Violence Against Women and Girls, VAWG in Adamawa State.They made the call at the town hall meeting with women led organizations, traditional and religious leaders to commemorate the 2023 16 Days of Activism in Yola.The State Coordinator, RoLAC and the Chairperson FIDA, Hafsat Abdulahi urged the stakeholders to unite , invest and strongly fight against gender base violence in the state.According to her, ROLAC welcomes women led organization with initiative on reaching out to Persons with Disabilities, PWD’s and vulnerable persons for sensitizing them to know their right.“It is our vision to eliminate GBV totally in our society”, she said.In her remarks, Barr Fatima Bello Raji, NBA women forum team lead Adamawa State, called on Government at all level to provide budget allocation for the Fight against GBV.According to her, Violence against women and girls is not acceptable, hence the need for all hands to be on deck.Raji further said, community sensitization and awareness should be intense.she also call on religious and traditional leaders to also take the massage to their respective communities.“Our society can be totally free from GBV when all hands are on deck”, she said.
