Adamawa Police Arrest 29 in Raid on Criminal Hideouts, Recover Suspected Illicit Drugs

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested 29 suspects and recovered suspected illicit drugs and other items during coordinated raids on criminal hideouts in Yola, Jimeta and adjoining areas of the state.

The operation was conducted by operatives of the Yola Area Command, led by the Area Commander, ACP Grace Sanda, following a directive by the Commissioner of Police, Kabir Umar Hassan, to Divisional Police Officers across the state to intensify raids on criminal hideouts and dismantle locations being used for criminal activities.

According to a statement issued on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the operation resulted in the recovery of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, Tramadol capsules, wraps of suspected illicit substances, pipes, lighters, bottles and other items believed to be associated with the consumption and distribution of illicit drugs.

The 29 suspects are currently in police custody as investigators work to establish their individual roles and identify other persons allegedly connected to the activities uncovered during the raids.

The Commissioner of Police commended the Area Commander, DPOs and other operatives involved in the operation for their commitment and professionalism.

He directed the personnel to sustain intelligence-led raids on criminal hideouts across Adamawa State as part of efforts to prevent criminal activities and enhance public safety.

The command also called on residents to provide timely and credible information to the police to assist in identifying criminal elements and locations being used for unlawful activities.

The Police assured the public that it would continue to take decisive action against activities capable of threatening peace and security across the state.
