Adamawa Police Foil Attempted Abduction of Six-Year-Old Girl, Arrest Suspect

The Adamawa State Police Command has foiled an alleged attempt to abduct a six-year-old girl in Mayo Belwa Local Government Area of the state and arrested an 18-year-old suspect in connection with the incident.

The incident occurred on August 18, 2026, when operatives attached to the Mayo Belwa Divisional Headquarters received information about an alleged attempt to forcefully abduct the child.

The suspect, identified as Abdullahi Sa’adu, 18, of Anguwan Eti Salat, Mayo Belwa, was allegedly attempting to abduct six-year-old Nora Luka of Anguwan Tsakuwa in the same local government area.

According to the police, a patrol team responded swiftly to the information and intercepted the suspect before he could carry out the alleged abduction.The girl was rescued unhurt and subsequently handed over to her parents.

The Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State Command, CP Kabir Umar Hassan, commended the police patrol team and members of the community for their prompt response and professionalism.

In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the Command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting children and other vulnerable members of society.

The police said investigation into the incident was ongoing, adding that the suspect would be arraigned before a court upon completion of the investigation.
