32-Year-Old Adamawa Man Allegedly Kills Father, Dumps Corpse in Well

A 32-year-old man, Peter Michael Sinamai, has been arrested by the police in Adamawa State for allegedly killing his biological father and dumping his corpse in a well in Sangere Quarters, Gombi Local Government Area.

Sinamai was arrested after a good Samaritan reportedly alerted the police to the incident. He later allegedly confessed to the killing during an interview at the Adamawa State Police Command Headquarters in Yola.

The suspect attributed the alleged crime to anger, alcohol and drug use, while claiming that his late father had been harsh towards him and his siblings.

Sinamai said tensions in the family worsened after he got married and brought his wife to the family home.

He alleged that his father disliked his wife and repeatedly assaulted her, claiming that he had to seek medical treatment for her following one of the incidents.

“I married and brought my wife to the house. My dad had never liked her. He beat her countless times, and I even had to treat her the last time.”

According to the suspect, he was overwhelmed by anger and had also consumed alcohol and drugs on the day of the incident.

He said he returned home tired and drunk and found his father lying outside the house.

“I was overwhelmed by anger. Even though I drink and do drugs, that very day I came back home tired and drunk. I met him lying outside the house.”

Sinamai alleged that after discovering that his mother was asleep, he picked up a stick and struck his father twice on the head.

“I used a stick on his head twice. He died instantly.”

He said that instead of reporting the incident, he panicked and allegedly dragged his father’s body into a well before covering it in an attempt to conceal the death.

“To cover my sin, I had to drag him into a well and cover it.”

‘I Know I Have Done Wrong’The suspect, who is now in police custody, expressed remorse and appealed to members of the public and his family for forgiveness.

“I regret my actions now. I am pleading that society should forgive me, and my immediate family should also have mercy on me. I know I have done wrong.”

Confirming the arrest, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Adamawa State Police Command, Suleiman Ngurore, said Sinamai allegedly killed his father and dumped the corpse in a well in an attempt to conceal the crime and avoid suspicion.

Ngurore said police operatives swung into action after receiving a complaint from a good Samaritan in the community, leading to the suspect’s arrest.

He said the suspect would be charged to court after thorough interrogation and completion of the investigation.

The PPRO also disclosed that Sinamai would undergo medical examination as part of the investigation.

Ngurore described the incident as disturbing, particularly given the allegation that the suspect deliberately killed his biological father.

The police investigation is ongoing, with authorities working to establish the circumstances surrounding the death and the events that allegedly preceded it.
