The Adamawa State Police Command says it has arrested a 26-year-old suspect and recovered a stolen 2016 Toyota Corolla Sport valued at about N18 million following an intelligence-led operation.
The command’s spokesperson, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, disclosed this in a statement issued in Yola.
According to the statement, the vehicle owner reported that he had handed over the car to one Mohammed Dan-Azumi, 26, of Girei Local Government Area, to be washed. However, the suspect allegedly drove the vehicle to an unknown destination and failed to return it.
Following the report, operatives of the State Intelligence Department (SID), Yola, launched a coordinated operation that led to the suspect’s arrest in Kano State and the recovery of the stolen vehicle.
The police said investigations were ongoing and that the suspect would be charged in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
Commending the operatives for their professionalism, the Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, CP Kabiru Umar Hassan, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to tackling crime and criminality across the state.
He also urged residents to continue supporting the police by providing timely and credible information to aid crime prevention and detection.
