Adamawa Police Launch Investigation Into Alleged Acid Attack

The Adamawa State Police Command has commenced an investigation into an alleged acid attack on a 17-year-old boy, identified as Walid Kassim Mohammed, in Yola South Local Government Area of the state.
The incident was said to have occurred on January 14, 2026, when the teenager reportedly ran to the Shagari Police Division in distress, claiming that he was sprayed with a substance suspected to be acid while on his way to a mosque in the Shagari area.
According to police sources, the victim identified the alleged assailant as one Idris Hamza, a resident of the same community.
Upon receiving the report, the police immediately rushed the victim to a hospital, where he is currently undergoing medical treatment, while the suspect was taken into protective custody.
The Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to take over the case to ensure a thorough and discreet investigation.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, disclosed the development in a statement issued on Thursday, adding that further details would be made public as the investigation progresses.
