Adamawa Police Step Up Anti-Crime Campaign Ahead of Festive Season

YOLA —By Ojoma Yusuf,Yola
The Adamawa State Police Command has intensified its campaign against cultism and other social vices in a bid to ensure a peaceful and crime-free festive season.
The sensitization exercise is being carried out under the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), a nationwide initiative of the Nigeria Police Force directed by the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.
The IGP had mandated all state police commands to implement the campaign as part of efforts to curb crime and criminal activities, particularly as the Christmas and New Year celebrations approach.
In Adamawa State, police officers took to major streets in Yola, engaging residents through public enlightenment, placards, and messages promoting peace and lawful conduct. Special attention was given to youths, who were advised to shun cultism, criminality, and other acts capable of threatening public order.
Speaking during the exercise, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, said the command remains firm in its fight against cultism, human trafficking, “Shilla” gangsterism, kidnapping, and other related crimes.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the Adamawa State Police Command to maintaining peace and security across the state, especially during the festive period.
Nguroje added that the campaign is aimed at fostering peaceful coexistence and encouraging residents to collaborate with the police in creating a safe and secure environment for all.
