Felicia Amos Dauda Elected New Chairperson of NAWOJ Adamawa State

Felicia Amos Dauda of The Scope newspaper has emerged as the new chairperson of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Adamawa State chapter.
Her emergence followed a competitive election on Saturday at the NUJ State Secretariat in Yola. Dauda secured 42 votes, defeating her opponent, Rose Anthony Elisahama, who garnered 27 votes.
The election, overseen by NAWOJ’s national officials, NUJ leadership, security agencies, and various observers, was praised for its transparency and fairness.
A total of nine NUJ chapters from across the state participated in the voting process, which was described by observers as one of the most seamless in recent times.
In addition to Dauda, other new executive members were elected unopposed. These include Zainab Jimeta as Vice Chairperson, Gloria Abutu as Secretary-General, Aida Muhammadu as Assistant Secretary-General, Nafeesa Vandi as Financial Secretary, and Falluma Vanco as Treasurer.
Mariya Albert Zira, Chairperson of the Electoral Credentials Committee, announced the results.
Comrade Aisha Bura, National Chairperson of NAWOJ, who was represented by Northeast Vice President Dorcas Philimon, congratulated the election committee and commended the process for its integrity.
In her acceptance speech, Felicia Amos Dauda expressed gratitude to the members of NAWOJ for their trust and confidence. She vowed to work tirelessly for the progress and unity of the association during her tenure and called for collective support in elevating the union to greater heights.
The newly elected chairperson and her team will serve a three-year term, with a mandate to strengthen the union and advocate for women journalists in the state.
