The Adamawa State Police Command has announced the arrest of a 40-year-old man suspected of trafficking young girls to Ghana for sexual exploitation, describing the development as a significant breakthrough in its ongoing fight against human trafficking.
The arrest, made on November 12, 2025, was detailed in a statement released on Thursday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje.
According to the statement, the suspect, Hamza Hammantukur Isa of Bauchi Street in Yola North Local Government Area, was taken into custody by operatives of the State Intelligence Department (SID) after the Command received credible intelligence. Isa is accused of deceiving his victims with promises of well-paying jobs abroad.
During the operation, officers rescued two female victims aged 18 and 19, both of whom were found unharmed.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Isa has been engaged in trafficking activities since 2023. He allegedly confessed to trafficking at least 10 girls to Ghana with the help of two female accomplices who are currently on the run.
The police said efforts are ongoing to apprehend the accomplices and locate additional victims. The Command assured the public of a comprehensive investigation and the prosecution of all suspects involved.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, commended the SID operatives for their swift action. He reiterated the Command’s commitment to protecting residents and emphasized that justice will be pursued in the case.
