Police Rescue Two Kidnap Victims, Arrest Suspect in Adamawa

YOLA —By Ojoma Yusuf,Yola The Adamawa State Police Command has rescued two kidnapped teenagers unharmed and arrested a suspected kidnapper during a coordinated security operation in Song Local Government Area of the state.The victims, identified as Rabe Mamman Sani, 18, and Aminu Mamman Sani, 16, were abducted from Gwewan Village in Dumne, Song LGA. Their rescue followed a joint operation by police operatives and local security outfits.According to a statement issued on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the operation was carried out on February 11, 2026, at a suspected kidnappers’ hideout located on Suktu Mountain.The statement said the success of the mission was largely due to the strategic deployment of combined security assets by the Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris.“On sighting the security team, the suspected kidnappers engaged the operatives in a gun duel but were forced to flee with possible gunshot injuries, abandoning the two kidnapped victims,” the statement read.One suspect, identified as Sanda Bello, 22, of Salasa Village in Dumne, was arrested during the operation. Police said the suspect has confessed to his involvement in the crime.The rescued victims were taken to a hospital for medical examination and were confirmed to be unharmed. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the kidnapping syndicate who escaped during the raid.The Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Command has been assigned to conduct further investigations.Commending the gallantry of the operatives and the collaboration with local security actors, the Commissioner of Police reassured residents of the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property.
