APC Guber Candidate Condemns Dzangola Attack, Calls for Stronger Security

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Adamawa State, Ahmed Galadima Aminu, has condemned the deadly attack on Dzangola community in Gombi Local Government Area of the state.

Galadima, in a statement issued by his media aide, Adamu Sambo, described the incident as a painful reminder of the security challenges confronting rural communities in Adamawa.

The attack, which occurred on Sunday, was allegedly carried out by suspected Boko Haram insurgents, resulting in the reported killing of several residents and destruction of homes, businesses and other property.

The statement also said there were reports of an abduction during the attack, while the Chairman of Gombi Local Government Area confirmed that 12 people were killed and two others injured.

Galadima expressed sympathy with the people of Dzangola and the entire Gombi community over the loss of lives and destruction caused by the attack.

“My heart goes out to the people of Dzangola at this very painful moment. The loss of innocent lives is devastating,” he said.

The APC candidate expressed particular concern over the reported abduction of a young girl, urging security agencies to intensify efforts to locate and safely rescue her.

He called on the military, police and intelligence agencies to strengthen operations in the area and protect vulnerable communities from further attacks.

Galadima said the repeated attacks on rural communities had become unacceptable, stressing that residents should not be left to confront terrorists and other criminal elements on their own.

He said the people deserved to live in safety, cultivate their farms and conduct their businesses without the constant fear of violence.

“Our people deserve to sleep in their homes without fear, cultivate their farms without anxiety and conduct their businesses without the constant threat of violence,” he said.

The candidate urged the government to establish a stronger security presence in Dzangola and neighbouring communities to restore residents’ confidence in the protection of their lives and property.

He also appealed to residents to remain vigilant and provide credible information about suspicious movements, unfamiliar persons and criminal activities to security agencies and community leaders.

Galadima said the fight against terrorism required collective efforts involving security agencies, governments at all levels, traditional and religious leaders, community vigilantes and citizens.

He further called on humanitarian organisations, philanthropists, community leaders and other well-meaning Nigerians to support families whose homes, livelihoods and means of sustenance were affected by the attack.

He prayed for the restoration of peace in Dzangola, Gombi and other communities affected by insurgency, urging stakeholders to work together to ensure that Adamawa remains safe and peaceful for its citizens.
