Fintiri Commends Optimum Laboratories for Boosting Healthcare Delivery in Adamawa

Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has commended the management of Optimum Laboratories Limited for its contribution to healthcare delivery in the state.

Fintiri gave the commendation on Wednesday in Yola during the official commissioning of the expanded Optimum Laboratories facility, which attracted government officials, health professionals and other stakeholders.

The governor, represented at the event, said the investment would contribute to strengthening diagnostic services and improving access to quality healthcare for residents of Adamawa.

Also speaking, Deputy Governor Prof. Kaletapwa George Farauta described the project as a significant addition to the state’s healthcare infrastructure.

Farauta congratulated the Chief Executive Officer of Optimum Laboratories, Muhammad Sani Umar, and his team for establishing the facility in Yola, noting the importance of private-sector investment in healthcare development.

She also urged National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in Adamawa to emulate Umar’s commitment and diligence in their respective places of primary assignment.

The deputy governor appealed to parents to allow their children to serve in locations where they are posted, warning against attempts to influence their places of service.

According to her, parents may not know what opportunities or plans the future holds for their children in places where they are posted.

Farauta further commended Umar for retaining his investment in Adamawa and giving back to the society that received him when he served as a corps member in the state.

The Chairman of the occasion, Dr. Donald Ofili, Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria, represented by Dr. Joshua Barde, congratulated the management of Optimum Laboratories on the achievement.

Barde called for the implementation of a robust quality management system to ensure accurate and reliable diagnostic results.

He said the initiative demonstrated the laboratory’s commitment to quality diagnosis and improved healthcare delivery.

In his remarks, the CEO of Optimum Laboratories Limited, Muhammad Sani Umar, said the facility was established to provide reliable, timely and quality expanded diagnostic services.

Umar disclosed that the vision for the laboratory began 22 years ago, expressing gratitude to his team for their resilience and dedication in transforming the vision into reality.

He said one of his major objectives was to ensure that patients could access a wider range of diagnostic tests in Yola without having to travel outside the state.

“Everything should start and finish here in Yola,” he said, stressing that additional equipment would be acquired to expand the laboratory’s diagnostic capacity.

Umar explained that the facility had been developed to provide a structured, efficient and patient-focused environment for diagnostic services.

He added that it brings together key laboratory functions while providing for quality control, equipment management, staff safety, appropriate workforce and efficient service delivery.

The CEO said the laboratory was also prepared for future expansion, adoption of new technologies and stronger collaboration with healthcare and research institutions.

He reiterated the company’s commitment to providing quality services and contributing to the development of the healthcare sector.

The commissioning attracted government functionaries, healthcare professionals, traditional rulers, development partners and other stakeholders, including the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare.

Members of the Igala community in Adamawa also expressed excitement over the achievement, describing Umar’s investment as a source of pride and commending him for establishing the facility in Yola.
