Vunobolki Puts Education, Security at the Heart of Adamawa 2027 Agenda

As preparations for the 2027 governorship election gather momentum in Adamawa State, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Maurice Vunobolki, has outlined an ambitious vision centred on education, security and inclusive development, promising that no child would be denied access to schooling under his administration.

Speaking during an interactive session with journalists in Yola, Vunobolki unveiled what he described as a people-focused agenda aimed at improving the living conditions of residents and laying a stronger foundation for the future of the state.

At the centre of his proposals is a commitment to revitalise public education, which he described as the bedrock of social and economic development. According to him, education remains one of the most effective tools for reducing poverty, creating opportunities and building a productive society.

Vunobolki said his administration, if elected, would place priority on strengthening public schools across the 21 local government areas of the state to ensure that every child, regardless of background, has access to quality education.

He also proposed free education and school feeding programmes as part of efforts to remove financial barriers that often prevent children from enrolling in or completing school.

The PDP candidate noted that providing meals in schools could encourage enrolment and improve attendance, especially among children from low-income families, while also supporting better learning outcomes.

Drawing from his personal experience, Vunobolki said he attended a public school and benefited from the quality of education available at the time, stressing that properly funded and managed public schools could once again become centres of excellence.

He pledged to invest heavily in school infrastructure, learning materials and other facilities required to make public schools more attractive to pupils, parents and teachers.

Beyond the classroom, Vunobolki linked access to education with broader social stability, arguing that many societal challenges, including drug abuse, youth restiveness and crime, are often worsened by inadequate educational opportunities.

According to him, keeping children in school is not only an educational policy but also a long-term strategy for promoting peace, reducing criminality and creating a more responsible generation of citizens.

On security, the PDP candidate acknowledged the challenges facing some communities in Adamawa and promised to work with security agencies, traditional institutions and local stakeholders to restore peace and stability.

He maintained that no meaningful development could take place in an atmosphere of fear and insecurity, adding that improving safety would remain a key priority of his administration.

Vunobolki said his vision for Adamawa is anchored on three pillars — power, prosperity and peace — which he described as essential for driving economic growth and improving the welfare of the people.

The emphasis on prosperity, he explained, reflects his intention to expand opportunities, support livelihoods and improve living standards, while peace would provide the stable environment required for investment and development.

As the political contest ahead of 2027 gradually takes shape, Vunobolki’s policy proposals place education and human capital development at the forefront of his campaign message.
