NAOWA 23 BRIGADE CHAPTER CELEBRATES INDEPENDENCE DAY REACHING OUT TO OVER 80 WIDOWS

As Nigeria turns 64, in commemoration with the Independence anniversary the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA) 23 Brigade Chapter organized a widows outreach to support and empower vulnerable women and children.
The event held on Tuesday, 1st October 2024 at the 23 Brigade Warrant Officers’ and Sergeants’ Mess brought together about 80 widows within the barrack community and their families, who received financial support and food items.
The Zonal Coordinator NAOWA 23 Brigade Chapter Mrs Comfort Zawaya said that NAOWA will continue to support vulnerable women and children, promoting self-sufficiency and dignity. She added that the outreach is to express appreciation for the widows unwavering support and strength. “Your sacrifices have not gone unnoticed and we recognize the challenges you face. We are committed to support you and ensure that your well-being is prioritize” she added. Mrs Zawaya however urge them to uphold and reflect on the values that unite us as a nation and strive for a brighter future.
The Zonal Coordinator NAOWA 23 Brigade Chapter seized the avenue to appreciate the Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja for his giant strides and support towards NAOWA, she also appreciates the National President NAOWA, Mrs Mariya Lagbaja and the Chairperson NAOWA 3 Division for their unwavering support and guidance to the 23 Brigade Chapter of NAOWA.
In appreciation,Mrs Patrick, representative of the beneficiaries, expressed gratitude to NAOWA for their kindness and generosity. She emphasize that the outreach has brought hope and relief to their families.
The outreach program featured financial assistance to widows, Distribution of food items to the widows, games, dinner with the Zonal Coordinator and group photographs.
